Position Overview

The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing financial and business support as part of Finance team that supports the Information Technology department.  Responsibilities will include: operational and performance analysis, annual budget & monthly forecast administration, operating expense and capital assets administration and adhoc reporting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Tracking and reporting of capital expenditures and provide guidance on GAAP in the treatment of capital versus operating expenditures, with close partnership with Accounting and Policy teams.
  • Assists management in the preparation of capital project business cases, including financial analysis/modeling (ROI, NPV, lease vs. buy, lease classification testing, etc.) in support of financial business decision-making. 
  • As Project Accountant, confirms treatment of expenditures as capital and/or expense, ensures the proper usage of PO and assists the business with invoice reconciliations/research.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of the fixed asset schedule to determine dispositions/asset impairment.
  • Partner up with fixed assets and accounting department to ensure validity and accuracy for recording the costs of newly-acquired assets and asset management of existing assets.
  • Analyze capital results against department budgets, prepare monthly forecasts and manage results to meet budget targets
  • Active support role during month-end close process which includes: journal preparation, accruals, collecting support documentation and variance analysis and reporting for executive review
  • Assist departmental leads in identifying risks, efficiencies and/or opportunities through analysis.  Alert management (Director) to potential areas of exposure and recommend solutions to ensure on-budget performance.
  • Provide support in the preparation of the annual Capital/Operating Budgets for the areas supported.
  • Analyze existing processes and provide support as new processes are coordinated and put in place within and across divisions
  • Assist in the preparation of presentation material on a periodic and ad hoc basis.
  • Budget, forecast and reporting for Corporate depreciation. Analyze data and create/maintain depreciation reporting that includes trend analysis and variance analysis against budget/forecast/prior year.
  • Project administrator for the Capital management team utilizing SAP Project Systems and Hyperion Planning.  Responsibilities will include setup of new projects in SAP, database maintenance, coordination with project managers, and other adhoc requests. 


Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and/or Accounting; MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of finance/accounting experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Highest degree of accuracy with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication, analytical, critical-thinking and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and is resourceful, creative and time sensitive juggling multiple projects for challenging deadlines
  • Knowledge and experience with General Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with SAP and Hyperion Essbase is a plus
  • Working knowledge of IT capital expenditures is a plus
