Position Overview
The Senior Data Science Manager will work as part of an elite team alongside data scientists, data engineers and data analysts focused on maximizing value from AI and Data Science while working on high priority business opportunities. The role will be critical in managing and delivering key AI and Data Science initiatives that align with organization priorities.
The role will be tasked with working with key business stakeholders, data scientists and subject-matter experts to plan and execute analytics and data science solutions and aid in rollout and training of these solutions. A key focus of this position is to spearhead the adoption and implementation of cutting-edge technologies such as Generative AI, personalization strategies, and conversational commerce and help deliver exceptional experiences to our customers. It will also involve evangelizing AI capabilities and promoting better understanding of AI and advanced analytics across the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Design analytics solutions to solve business problems: Provide critical inputs from the business to define creative solutions to problems that balance speed of execution with the ability to create sustainable wins.
· Understand the various sources of data, technical components of the architecture, and best practices in the industry to solve problems with speed.
· Drive delivery of solutions in an Agile delivery model: Translate initiatives and solution designs into actionable user stories, aligning with agile methodology principles. Orchestrate the enhancement of analytical capability products through structured sprint cycles ensuring continuous delivery of business value with each incremental release of an analytics capability.
· Data Literacy: Promote a culture of data literacy and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
· Provide training and resources to empower employees to leverage data effectively.
· Innovation and Improvement: Continuously evaluate industry trends and explore new opportunities to leverage analytics for business innovation and process improvements. Drive initiatives that enhance advanced analytical capabilities and maintain a competitive edge.
· Collaboration: Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and subject-matter experts to strategize, plan, and execute cutting-edge analytics and data science solutions.
· Leadership: Lead the planning and execution of high-impact AI and Data Science initiatives that align with organizational priorities.
· Educate, Train and Adopt: Serve as an evangelist for advanced analytical capabilities within the organization, promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation of AI across all levels. The role will be required to help train business partners, executives and analysts, or any data consumers when solutions are rolled out and ensure successful adoption of solutions.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
· 10+ years’ experience in data management, analytics, or related roles with 5+ years’ experience in managerial roles.
· Technical expertise in big data, data warehousing, analytics, and data science related technologies including data lakes and machine learning
· Strong experience in working with data science teams in refining and optimizing data science and machine learning models and algorithms.
· Strong experience working with popular data discovery, analytics and BI software tools like MicroStrategy, Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI and others for semantic-layer-based data discovery. Knowledge of SAP BI/AI tools is a plus.
· Experience in leading AI initiatives and collaborating with business stakeholders and data scientists to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
· Proficient in agile methodologies and adept at applying ML Ops principles to AI and machine learning pipelines, with a focus on incrementally delivering business value.
· Strong experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environment.
· Strong ability to demonstrate exceptional creativity and collaboration skills when working with diverse business and technical teams across the organization.
· Deep Retail Industry knowledge or previous experience working in the business. Experience in Fashion and Apparel industry would be ideal.
· Required to have the ability to interface with, and gain the respect of, stakeholders at all levels and roles within the company.
· Has good judgment, a sense of urgency and has demonstrated commitment to high standards of ethics, regulatory compliance, customer service and business integrity.
· A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field is required.
