Position Overview
The candidate will join the team in charge of all the accounting aspects of Sales, Cost of Sales and Inventory-related elements for EMEA. The role also includes reporting of Sales, Cost of Sales and Inventory. The team will be involved in the month, quarter and year-end close processes including but not limited to the analysis of Inventory and directly associated costs and reporting deliverables.
The candidate’s primary responsibilities will be to perform accounting functions and analyses for certain areas/divisions of the Company’s Inventory Accounting. Working closely with cross functional departments like Sales Audit/Costing Team/Tax/Internal Audit/IT and carrying out multiple reconciliations reporting the variances and preparing required journals. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for providing accounting assistance in support of all facets of the closing and reporting process, streamlining procedures, and assisting in the ongoing review of the SOX internal control process, as well as provide support and all required documentation for internal and external audits for the Inventory Accounting area.
The candidate will contribute to the development of continuous process improvement initiatives and best practices through leverage of technology and effective collaboration/communication. The candidate will partner with EMEA team to support any queries.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Day-to-day
-Detailed reconciliation between multiple systems on a regular basis and continuous investigation into areas of misalignment in Sales/COGS.
-Analyze and prepare journal entries and accruals related to Inventory Accounting Monthly Close related activities,
-Prepare monthly detailed reconciliations and account analysis.
-Carry out balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any miscellaneous balances.
-Maintain and review documented procedures and ensure compliance with SOX requirements
-Support of internal and external audits
-Prepare and verify product margin reports for the respective channel.
-Perform detailed reconciliations with respect to Ecom channels.
-Run Costing cycles of material which have failed to flow into SAP from other accounting tools/softwares.
-Identify process improvement and efficiency enhancement opportunities and support these
-Assist with ad-hoc assignments and special projects as and when required by management.
Other
-Identify and drive process improvement and efficiency enhancement opportunities
-Perform ad-hoc analysis in support of new businesses/initiatives (new store opening, eCom country opening, sourcing initiatives, inventory liquidation, etc.)

-Preparation of reports, presentations, and summaries for Senior Management as required and their analysis
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
-Results orientated, flexible, resourceful, and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple deliverables
-Advanced analytical skills/”out of the box” thinking to logically question and proactively flag potential issues
-Can-do and problem-solving attitude.
-Knowledge of Inventory accounting, with a strong foundation in Inventory accounting, with preferred knowledge in areas such as GR/IR, reconciliations, EOH, Sales, VAT etc.
-Strong time-management skills, and ability to adhere to tight deadlines
-Strong customer service to the business and senior management
-Excellent communication and organizational skills (written and verbal)
-Ability to work independently, to deliver under pressure in a complex/matrix-type environment
-High system proficiency (multiple systems handling),
-Ability to gather and interpret data, compile information and prepare reports.
-Excel and SAP proficiency
-0-3 years of experience in audit, finance and/or accounting
-University degree in accounting, finance, business or economics
-Retail or multi-unit industries experience a plus
