Position Overview

Regional sustainability expert that drives the implementation and tangible progress in sustainability initiatives across the manufacturing supply chain in the Americas region; supporting the integration of sustainability standards and expectations to suppliers with regional sourcing strategies. This role is open to be based in either one of the Ralph Lauren offices: New York, Nutley, or North Carolina, reporting to Senior Sustainability Manager, Supply Chain, and Regional Sourcing Lead.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide sustainability specialization/subject matter expertise for the Americas region, accelerate the Supplier Engagement Strategy (SES) scorecard performance improvement across all sustainability metrics, and implement the 2030 roadmap, covering climate (energy and GHG), water, wastes and chemicals impact areas.  
  • Own the monitoring and follow-up of supplier sustainability performance and environmental compliance issues through direct data collection, internal tools, industry tools, and supplier scorecard, in close partnership with regional Sourcing. Identify, analyze, and communicate regional sustainability and environmental risks/issues. 
  • Manage and drive supply chain reporting capability and post-assessment supplier engagement to deliver a tangible and consistent performance improvements and progress in sustainability, alongside the regional business expansion strategy. 
  • Build strong rapport and partner closely with cross functional teams and leadership of regional Sourcing, as well as suppliers and external partner organizations (regional and global) to drive alignment and integration of RL supply chain sustainability goals into the regional business priorities. 
  • Identify and deliver regional capability building opportunities and deployment strategy, partnering closely across the broader global Sustainability and regional Sourcing teams. Conduct individual and/or group follow ups, site visits, trainings, webinars, on-site and off-site capability building initiatives for Americas suppliers on sustainability topics.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Several years of experience in apparel, textile, and leather supply chain/manufacturing sustainability. Prior experience in direct supplier engagement and sustainability capability building in the Americas region preferred. 
  • Solid understanding in and passion for environmental sustainability issues and impact measurement. Subject matter expertise in energy, GHG, water, wastes and chemicals impact areas in apparel, textile and leather manufacturing. 
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in existing industry tools, at a minimum but not limited to Higg Index Facility Environmental Module (FEM), ZDHC chemical inventory management and wastewater test standards, as well as the data verification, analytics, and capacity building tools.  
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in relevant majors i.e. environmental science, industrial engineering, chemistry, textile engineering, sustainable development, and/or energy management 
  • Fluency in Spanish is a must, with strong written and verbal English 
  • Accustomed to working in a global, diverse, and dynamic cross-functional environment 
  • Exceptional analytical, collaboration and communication (and presentation) skills 
  • Established network of industry stakeholders in the region 
  • Advanced ability in MS Office applications. Knowledge in other application is a plus: PowerBI, Microstrategy
