Position Overview

As an OMS  Technical  Lead, this role will be instrumental in delivering digital order management solutions for the Ralph Lauren US, EU and APAC using IBM Sterling Order Management (Commerce on Cloud) platform.


Purpose & Scope: 

Based in Bengaluru, India this Technical Lead role will be working in partnership with Global Digital teams leveraging strong technology & analytical skills to enable the development, testing, maintenance & operations of the order management application.

Successful candidates will also be able to follow a disciplined approach (Agile & DevOps) in managing work & communicating effectively and following established IT guidelines (security, project processes, etc.).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Order Management (Commerce on Cloud) Solution:

  • Expertise in implementing IBM Sterling OMS (CoC) solution to support multi-brand, multi-region, multi-channel initiatives.
  • Leads design sessions and code reviews of extensions and customizations of the Sterling development framework.
  • Identify and facilitate the resolution of production issues, especially those involving multiple teams.
  • Supports a wide range of technology projects using IBM Sterling OMS (CoC), including configurations, software development, installation of patches and upgrades, etc.
  • Collaborates with SME’s, Developers and Business Analysts to extend the capabilities of IBM Sterling OMS (CoC) platform.
  • Partners with other technical teams (middleware, database, infrastructure, etc.), create interface documents and mappings to ensure that the OMS is built in a Service Oriented Architecture manner.
  • Strong integration knowledge with multiple geography payment gateways, tax engines, email service providers, Order imports, etc.



  • Proactively build relationships by being solution oriented and focused on commitments/deliverables.
  • Prepare relevant Technology insights and documents to assist in presenting finding to improve the solution.
  • Network with internal and external customers to identify opportunities to improve Order Management through better usage of existing system functionality, development of new enhancements, and/or adaptation of better business processes.
  • Co-ordinate product cases and support tickets with the IBM CoC team.
  • Participate in tests, including system, integration, and customer acceptance, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support.
  • Mentor and train junior resources in Sterling OMS solution development.


Production support processes:

  • Technology Operations: Co-lead OMS operational process improvements to improve overall solution to support the production operations teams.
  • DevOps: Leverage leading design & operational practices to solve critical problems and identify opportunities to develop and maintain core OMS applications.
  • Processes: Identifying operational process improvement opportunities to enable ‘Application’ administration and maintenance operational maturity.
  • Release management: Plan and support releases to maintain the application.
  • Operational Metrics: Co-Lead with support from operations teams to establish Technology level SLAs, OLAs, milestones and check points to track and improve performance of systems and/or applications.
  • Flexibility to support US time zone when need to partner with the global team.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or relevant field.
  • 8+ years of experience delivering major Retail IT programs for the business, 4+ years of experience in designing and implementing IBM Sterling OMS solutions.
  • At least 2 project implementations that exploit the full capabilities (discover, design, implement and optimize) of IBM Sterling OMS is a mandate.
  • Experience in integrating IBM Sterling OMS with SFCC, IBM IIB, Adyen ( Payment Gateway ), Vertex (Tax engine), Forter (Fraud solution), Manhattan WMS
  • Configuration/Administrator level knowledge using Sterling Order Management components, API's, related interfaces and configuration.
  • Proven ability to partner with quality assurance and UAT teams to to ensure quick resolution of config/code bugs found during testing cycles, while maintaining alignment to documented requirements and scope.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to partner with stakeholders inside and outside of IT as well as vendors and other external entities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and ability to execute workload to deliver high quality results.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, to prioritize, and adapt to a changing technology environment.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership – especially for managing the OMS solution.
