Position Overview
The Buying Lead will focus on all Asia Pacific markets including Japan, South Korea, Greater China, Southeast Asia and Australia with a focus on achieving financial targets and growing the business. The Buying Lead reports directly into Head of Buying, Planning and Allocation for Asia Pacific.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a best-in-class buying team for all direct-to-consumer channels that feel empowered and enabled to deliver financial targets and KPIs relevant to the Asia Pacific business
- Devise and execute growth plans by identifying new categories and product opportunities, supporting new channel, store and market opportunities in partnership with regional, commercial partners as well as key internal and external cross-functional partners, such as brand image, marketing, digital, retail management & operations, etc.
- Manage open-to-buy and financial targets, responsible for maintaining alignment of regional objectives in line with global priorities by partnering with regional finance and brand merchandising on annual and seasonal budgets and correlating targets and requirements
- Oversee business performance and formulate initiatives to deliver financial targets and drive revenue including inventory management, promotions, and setting pricing based on product offering, competitor positions, macroeconomic environment, etc. across the Asia Pacific markets
- Communicate on behalf of the Asia Pacific regions qualitative and quantitative feedback to brand merchandising and design to ensure Asia Pacific business needs are met
- Develop expertise in local trends with consistent presence in the Asia Pacific markets to educate brand merchandising and design on the various consumer segmentations and needs including product nuances, consumer behavior and in-country trends
- Actively participate in the APAC Buying, Planning & Allocation senior leadership team, helping to create and lead key regional strategies across the Asia Pacific markets
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years buying or merchandise planning experience preferably in the apparel, accessories, or beauty industry
- Strong leadership experience
- Strong management experience of both business and team
- Excellent communication and presentation skills across teams, key stakeholders & cross-functional partners, and management
- High degree of style and taste and understanding of trends and marketplace
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong computer skills and comfortable with various systems
- Self-motivated and organized
- Proficient in English
