Position Overview

Oversee the data analysis activities in order to support the Merchandising and sales operations department. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Internal incubator for product performance enhancement and analytics. Lead product analytics experiments, rapid data insight prototyping, and productionizing of data products, with the goal to provide the organization with the ability to develop data-driven products.
  • Use large data sets to find opportunities for process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. 
  • Drive business results with their data-based insights
  • Performs a range of mainly straightforward assignments to support data analysis within the Merchandising and sales operations department 
  • Act as a liaison between IT and the Merchants.
  • Uses prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions
  • May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Has working knowledge and experience in managing data
  • Build knowledge of the organization, processes and customers
  • Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Excel Wizard (VBA, complex formulas, Power Query etc.), Microsoft Azure
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.)
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
  • Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, SLQ, etc.
  • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
  • Data normalization, Data visualization, Python, Strong Problem solving skills, Lateral thinking, Data-oriented personality
