Position Overview

The Manager-Master Data Strategy is a key finance leader in the Master Data Governance organization and will be responsible for global master data policy, process and architecture besides managing the RL India Master data group providing hands on support to the team including reviewing of deliverables to ensure quality, managing business partner relationships and allocating work across the team.   The ideal candidate will have progressive responsibility within a Master Data, Data Analytics and/or Data Architecture team where the experience should normally include development and execution of data governance standards, master data policy/processes and data architecture across data domains, ie Vendor, Customer, Finance, etc..  The Manager will be a hands-on leader who supports the team and their professional development and will have excellent communication skills and an analytical mindset.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the current master data controls and processes, identifies weaknesses and opportunities, implements solutions to drive operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures data quality, compliance, and consistency of master data across business units.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of a company wide data strategy.
  • Implements strategies, policies, and procedures to support data driven decision making.
  • Manages effective relationships with key internal partners in FP&A, Accounting, IT, Supply Chain, Retail Operations, to help drive a coordinated and focused master data strategy.
  • Serves as one of the primary advisors for the Head of Global Reporting and Master Data 
  • Utilizes experience to evaluate the current RL environment, liaise with the ERP project team to help guide the setup of new ERP. 
  • Commits to decisions reasonable for this management level / manage up when appropriate.
  • Team Management: provide coaching, support team member development and growth, ensure work is appropriately allocated to avoid any under or over capacity within the team. 
  • Ensure stakeholder expectations are clearly understood and that the team is supported to ensure the quality of deliverables is aligned with objectives. 
  • Identify and comprehend business issues; propose and carry out solutions.
  • Modeling long-term growth and determining the business elements that influence it.
  • Identifying financial risks and opportunities; provides recommendations to mitigate.
  • Promotes an environment of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to create and implement process efficiencies.
  • Assists with ad-hoc initiatives / analysis to support business needs.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization as well as internal and external stakeholders

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Qualified (CPA/CIMA or equivalent) and university degree in finance or accounting. 
  • 10+ years progressive responsibility within ERP, master data, data management
  • Master Data, IT, Finance, Accounting, or another closely related business application
  • Works comfortably with large data sets utilizing query, reporting and summarization features within Excel / BI tools.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast paced environment; detail oriented with strong organization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred: SAP, Microsoft Dynamics ERPs
  • Other systems, tools - PowerApps, UiPath, Data IKU a plus 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel 
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, verbal and written, with the ability to influence. 
  • Analytical and detail orientated with a high degree of accuracy, strategic thinker.
  • Well organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously efficiently and effectively.
  • Capability to multitask and adapt to a constantly changing, quick environment.
  • Flexibility to reprioritize based on deadlines and priorities.
  • Self-motivated / self-starter; works independently to identify and / or resolve issues.
