Position Overview
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and support to Ralph Lauren’s business in the Greater China region, with a particular focus on real estate leasing matters
- Draft, review and negotiate retail leases and concession agreements for stores located in China, and any other commercial contracts as required by the business teams and various internal departments
- Work with the Asia Pacific real estate team on the timely and efficient execution of store leases and concession agreements
- Support the legal management of the store lease portfolio, including lease renewals, terminations and rent reviews
- Partner with business teams to address disputes involving leased properties
- Ensure that leases signed within the region comply with global corporate policies
- Conduct research and provide analysis and advice on various regulatory matters, as well as other general areas of law that are relevant to the business
- Manage and liaise with external counsel
- Provide legal advice and support on day-to-day matters, with external counsel support as necessary
- Undertake any ad hoc legal projects and assignments as required
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Requirements:
- Recognised law degree and admitted to practice in the PRC or Hong Kong SAR
- Minimum 5 years’ legal work experience (prior in-house experience would be helpful, but not required)
- Experience in commercial real estate (particularly drafting and negotiation of retail store leases in China) would be particularly helpful
- Strong Mandarin language skills, including the ability to draft and negotiate in Chinese
- Ability to work independently
- Good analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to occasionally travel around the region when required
