Position Overview
To ensure a consistently memorable customer shopping experience while generating meaningful revenue and positive operating profit for the Women’s & Home flagship store within assigned department. At Ralph Lauren, our commitment to delivering an exceptional, welcoming, and elevated customer experience begins the moment a guest steps through our doors. The Department Manager, Women’s plays a vital role as their team is the first and final point of contact for every guest visiting our location. This role not only leads a team driving sales and profit performance for our location, but also ensures a warm and gracious welcome and serves as a knowledgeable concierge, providing guidance, personalized direction, and thoughtful service to all who enter our building.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for sales and profit performance in assigned store department- Women’s, Home, FW&J, Accessories, etc.
- Responsible for training and supervision of store staff to maximize sales and profit performance.
- Coach and mentor all employees to achieve optimal results.
- Works with the Head of Store to establish and achieve sales and margin goals, develop operating budgets, and monitor performance.
- Responsible for achieving store shrinkage goals and for the establishment and implementation of both new and existing loss prevention procedures.
- Directs the execution of Ralph Lauren's promotional strategies and programs, assuring that they support Ralph Lauren's Retail sales, marketing, and profit objectives.
- Serves as part-concierge for the women’s flagship, making everyone walking into the building feel welcomed
- Partners with our Ralph’s Coffee team to help ensure we have a seamless guest experience from the coffee shop into the flagship store
- Regularly visits relevant competition to maintain an awareness of store performance issues and market trends.
- Understands and places a high priority on building a relationship with and providing input to cross-functional partners including Operations, Buying/Allocation and Visual Presentation
- Assist in executing visual directives and ensure store environments are compelling, place high priority on upholding presentation standards and holding team accountable to such standards.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- College Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 5 years of Retail Management Experience preferred
- Ability to navigate a very elevated, high-traffic environment with high enthusiasm and ability to build and maintain an environment consistent with RL lifestyle philosophy.
- Strong business acumen.
- Ability to manage high-performing teams and guide individuals toward goal achievement using negotiation, teamwork, motivation and staff development skills.
- Ability to communicate and establish relationships with VIC clients and Corporate teams
- Possess a passion for and understanding of luxury
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with hospitality business and retail management preferred.
- Proficiency in foreign languages preferred.
- Ability to maneuver around the sales floor, stock/dressing room, cashwrap and office; work around/with chemicals, lift
up to 30 lbs. and climb moderately utilizing a ladder as trained under RL Health & Safety guidelines - Ability to operate the register, stand, move and walk for multiple hours
