Position Overview

The Associate Planner of Global Merchandise Planning is responsible for developing merchandise plan and strategies in partnership with the cross functional team that will deliver sales, margin and inventory target for the department.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Responsible for outlining Global assortment composition and category plans by season following the guiding principles of profitability

  • Own “bottoms up” planning by category, assortment and buy plans to achieve financial plans

  • Plans style level buys based on APS (avg. per store) planning within each classification in partnership with Merchandising

  • Ensure newness, core, fashion and price points are balanced within assortment

  • In season, track to previously set strategies in addition to assortment and category plans highlighting opportunities and risks in the business

  • Responsible for 360 category management including product level OTB forecasting

  • Reconcile actuals to ensure strategies are met including assortment, buy & sales; understand and adjust differences

  • Own key item plans and 365 basics ladder plans to monitor sales and inventory

  • Partner with Merchandising on quarterly Hindsight decks to uncover product, channel, regional and inventory opportunities

  • Work closely with Merchandising and Business Planning to identify sales opportunities through effective strategic planning and product level analysis

  • Establishes cross-functional relationships to promote best practices and process adherence; fosters teamwork

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience in planning, buying, allocation or finance

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills

  • Proficient with Excel

  • Excellent time management/project skills

  • Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail

  • Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands

  • Comfortable and confident in making effective autonomous (and group) decisions in a timely manner

  • Goal oriented: ability to stay focused on creating winning results

  • Strong presentation skills
