Position Overview

The designer will be responsible for supporting the brand creative team and product design team with a wide range of seasonal creative projects. Focus will be on executing the pattern/graphic elements of the apparel and accessories product. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Execute photo research to support concept rig development and seasonal inspiration.
Research/create new print/pattern ideas that support the seasonal conceptual message. 
Support brand creative team in creating graphics for t-shirt designs, embroideries, prints, appliques, patches, and branded trims for apparel/accessories based on seasonal themes.
Partner with the brand creative team with developing graphics for packaging, hangtags, labels, etc. 
Color-up seasonal Illustrator 2D sketches to capture desired color/pattern/print as directed by the product design team or creative director. Focus will be on the styles that are pattern/print focused. 
Create conceptual stat layouts each season.
Execute production ready artwork for both allover/engineered fabric prints that supports the design esthetic desired and meets the mill/printers’ limitations and RL legal requirements. 
Ensure all graphic artwork files are production ready. Collaborate with the product design team on sizing, colorways and placement of logos and prints.
Support the product design/PMT teams in reviewing incoming strike-offs/submits and provide guidance to ensure desired finished garment execution will be achieved. 
Set up files in Sketch/Figma for web design.
Support brand creative team with creating/developing imagery for showroom presentations. 
When needed execute fashion illustrations during the seasonal women’s concept phase.
Responsible for asset organization so brand history is maintained, and files can be easily referenced. 
Keep awareness of current design trends and techniques in the marketplace. 
Prepare physical / digital presentations as requested.
Assist in special projects as needed.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

Highly proficient in Adobe Creative suite. Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, XD extremely important.
Proficient in Pointcarre or Apex for pattern development.
Proficient in 3D software (Rhino/SolidWorks) a plus.
Proficient in painting and drawing skills. 
Fashion illustration a plus. 
Strong understanding of allover print development and establishing repeats.
Understanding of Typography 
Up to 3 years of apparel graphic design experience 
Awareness of production techniques for t-shirts/logos, trim etc. 
Strong creative skills and the ability to work with vintage/heritage themes.
Awareness of RRL heritage and aesthetic a plus. 
Strong communication skills, ability to multi-task and manage to deadlines. 
Self-motivated team player.
