Position Overview

The Analytics Manager – Business Partner is an emerging role in Ralph Lauren’s Analytics team, and will play a pivotal role in providing business partnership support to stakeholders from across the company, helping deliver analytical capabilities that answer critical business questions and unlock actionable insights from the company’s myriad data assets.

Based in Nutley, NJ the Analytics Manager – Business Partner will work closely with business partners across the enterprise to understand their objectives and business challenges to identify areas where Analytics can be leveraged to solve problems, unlock opportunities and create new insights.  This role is highly visible and functions as a liaison between key stakeholders and the Global Analytics team.

It will require both creative and collaborative working with the wider business and IT to drive initiatives in support of the business achieving its strategic objectives. It will also involve evangelizing effective and consistent reporting practices and promoting better understanding of data and analytics throughout all levels of the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Develop strong partnerships with diversified business partners: Define opportunities to deliver insights and recommendations that help stakeholders better understand business performance and identify opportunities to achieve business objectives. Generate recommendations and solutions by being curious, collaborative and innovative.
  • Proactively serve as overall business relationship manager: Be the primary interface between assigned business units and Global Analytics with responsibility to define the Analytics roadmap, set priorities based on predefined criteria, evaluate risk, manage the execution of solutions across disciplines and help maximize solution adoption and the positive impact on the organization.
  • Analyze data to unlock insights: Move beyond descriptive reporting helping stakeholders identify relevant insights and actions from data.  Partner with delivery team to experiment and create prototypes and proofs of values to showcase the potential of a solution.
  • Create visualizations and tell great stories with data: Communicate insights in a way that invites understanding and compels action across multiple levels of the organization. 
  • Educate and train: The Analytics Manager-Business Partner should be curious and knowledgeable about new data initiatives and how to address them. This includes applying their data and/or domain understanding in addressing new requirements.
  • Become a data and analytics evangelist: This role will promote the available data and analytics capabilities and expertise to business unit leaders and educate them in leveraging these capabilities in achieving their business goals.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree. Emphasis on quantitative skills in economics, marketing, business or related field is preferred.
  • Experience in Retail or related field with analytical or business intelligence experience preferred
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in Retail in support of a departmental and/or multi-departmental analytics initiative
  • Deep Retail Industry knowledge (preferably apparel) or previous experience working in the business is preferred.

Technical Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong experience working with popular data discovery, analytics and BI software tools like MicroStrategy, Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI and others for semantic-layer-based data discovery is preferred.  Certification in one more of these tools would be a plus.
  • Strong experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environment.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Able to gather, manipulate, and interpret data at a low level of detail and synthesize into actionable business recommendations for leadership team.
  • Adept in agile methodologies and capable of applying DevOps and increasingly DataOps principles to data pipelines to improve the communication, integration, reuse and automation of data flows between data managers and consumers across an organization
  • Ability to communicate complex business / technical challenges in a simplified manner.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to influence and build consensus across multiple functions and levels of the organization – able to lead without authority.
