Position Overview

The Designer Assistant will assist and support the design team with daily functions from initial concept design through production. This role will have a strong focus on technical design and product development within the entire accessories department. Looking for a designer who has excitement and passion for the brand, the RRL aesthetic and accessories as a category. Candidate should be extremely detail oriented with strong technical skills, knowledge of accessory construction as well as fabrics and leathers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Execute technical sketches using Illustrator. This includes all views and detailed layouts to capture the nuances of the model/style.

• Render/color-up all sketches in Photoshop to properly represent the color/pattern of the given style with focus on capturing the hand/drape of the key material

• Assist in preparation for all product design meetings and seasonal sample presentations

• Create and maintain style stat information in XD & Airtable

• Build tech packs & keep them up to date with proto comments through production approval

• Photograph & keep track of product samples at each stage of production - (protos, showroom samples, pps, tops)

• Assist in creation of seasonal specialty packaging

• Manage trim library - physical and digital

• Manage digital library of RRL accessory history, updating each season

• Maintain office organization for: protos, vintage research, RL Library references, past season samples

• Understand the RRL customer / market

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Accessories Design or Fashion Design preferred

• Proficient in Photoshop / Illustrator / XD / Adobe Creative Cloud

• Strong technical design skills

• Knowledge of PLM, Airtable & Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel)

• 3D design proficiency a plus

• Zoom/Teams video calls

• General knowledge of accessories, footwear, home

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Team player with strong interpersonal skills

• Detail oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task

• Affinity for the brand, vintage and the desire to learn
