Position Overview
Individual will have hands-on involvement as a member of RL’s North America Corporate and Licensing accounting team, playing an integral role in its general ledger (GL) Record-to-Report processes, with a key focus on accounting for RL’s global product licensing portfolio, including revenues, collections, expenses, and balance sheet analysis. Individual will also work closely and partner with various corporate teams, including FP&A, Regional Accounting, Treasury, and Tax, which will expose the individual to a variety of topics that will enhance their learning experience. The candidate will help contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives and development of best practices through technology and effective collaboration/communication. The candidate will also provide support for the North America financial reporting package and the external audit process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily monitoring of RL’s global licensing portfolio of 30+ product licensees, including reviewing and summarizing new licensing agreements, recording related revenue and accounts receivable, invoicing licensees, reconciling incoming royalty payments and licensee sales/royalty reporting, and preparing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
- Work with FP&A business partners and Licensees to help address/resolve any reporting or payment inconsistencies
- Support monthly accounting close process for certain corporate functions (e.g., IT, HR, Legal) by assisting with review of journal entries, preparing account reconciliations, and meeting with FP&A teams to review results
- Assist with accounting related to new ERP system, and contribute to the ERP implementation itself
- · Partner with regional teams to assist with miscellaneous intercompany billings
- · For key areas of responsibility, prepare quarterly financial reporting packages to support 10-Q and 10-K filings and provide support on audit requests
- · Assist with non-routine items, such as on-boarding new licensees, helping train new FP&A partners on relevant US GAAP and journal entry submissions, and other ad-hoc accounting projects
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Experience with SAP a plus, but not required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, with an attention to detail
- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
- Desire to work in a team environment with various business partners
- Eagerness to learn, able to adapt to changing environment
