Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative professional to join our team, focusing on developing and implementing business solutions that optimize our company's merchandising processes. In this role, you will utilize your programming skills, particularly in VBA, to create and maintain applications that address merchandising challenges across various functions and regions. You'll leverage data-driven insights to enhance our merchandising operations and have the opportunity to explore and implement solutions using other platforms and languages as we continue to evolve our technology stack. This position combines technical expertise with business acumen to drive improvements in our merchandising processes.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as an internal solution consultant, identifying long-standing bottlenecks in business processes and advising on which technologies, platforms, and methods to use for creating effective solutions from project inception to completion
  • Develop and implement strategies and initiatives to resolve business challenges, leveraging your technical skills and business acumen, including but not limited to application development and process automation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-regional teams to develop business solutions that align and streamline processes across the organization
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancement through the application of innovative coding techniques and business logic implementation
  • Design, develop, and maintain business applications, primarily using VBA in Excel, with an eye towards potential transition to more advanced platforms or languages
  • Deliver training sessions to users on developed solutions and provide ongoing support to ensure effective utilization and adoption
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and develop scalable, efficient, and maintainable code
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending and implementing new tools and practices to enhance our technological capabilities


Experience, Skills & Knowledge

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or related quantitative field (preferred, but not required)
  • Strong expertise in VBA programming in Excel, including experience with Ribbons and Add-ins
  • Proficiency in, or demonstrable ability to learn other programming languages such as Python, R, or JavaScript
  • Familiarity with database management and SQL
  • Experience with or interest in cloud platforms like AWS
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically about business challenges
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Fluency in English and Cantonese, facilitating seamless communication with both local staff and international stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
