Pay Range: The pay range for this job is $85000 - $161444 annually; actual pay is dependent on experience and geographic location.

Position Overview

The Patternmaker role is a pre-manufacturing function, responsible for interpreting design concepts through patternmaking, into production ready proto types across multiple categories for an assigned division. This position requires a high level of patternmaking skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for interpreting Design concepts into garments through draping or flat patternmaking, determining appropriate garment construction method according to the fabric and styling • Responsible for Block Development for all categories and size ranges • Collaborate with business partners to gain clear direction and consensus of fit intent • Lead fit session and utilize technical expertise by offering suggestions to improve fit and resolve technical issues • Effectively communicate fit intent, balance and construction to vendors via electronic patterns and email • Maintain size and fit consistency within the Brand and across product categories • Mentoring, consultation, and skill training for Sampleroom associates • Identify and proactively engage business partners when potential production, quality and costing issues arise with recommendations for viable options/solutions to ensure Brand integrity • Track and manage workflow and workload for own product and work closely with Technical Design Manager to ensure clarity on deliverables • Responsible for managing the Tech Design involvement in the seasonal Fashion Shows • Travel to GIS offices and/or factories to work with Technical teams to educate them on new Block fits and usage, understand factory capabilities and ensure products meet company quality standard requirements and troubleshoot technical issues related to patterns sent • Conducts self and others within established guidelines of the Corporate Fit Protocol, Ralph Lauren Corporation Code of Conduct. • Holds self and others accountable for work commitments and outcomes

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

Ability to interpret Design concepts into garments through draping or flat patternmaking, determining appropriate garment construction method according to fabric and styling • Demonstrated skills in first and production patternmaking • Expertise in patternmaking, grading, construction and fit for multiple or complex product • Knowledge of construction standards and manufacturing methods • Ability to communicate and give technical direction to non English speaking business partners (samplehands/ cutter/ factory technicians) • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi task and be flexible • Ability to proactively trouble shoot and problem solve • Strong computer skills: - computer patternmaking programs: ADS, Gerber, Lectra, Tukatech - computer spec writing programs: PLM, PDM, Karat - email systems: MS Outlook and Microsoft Suite: MS Excel, MS Word - 3D Software: CLo, Optitex, Browzwear, Tukatech
