Pay Range: The pay range for this job is $62000 - $95935 annually; actual pay is dependent on experience and geographic location.

Position Overview

We are seeking a creative, passionate, and self-motivated Design Associate for our Denim & Bottoms category. The candidate must have strong research, sketching, and design skills. The Design Associate will support all phases of the design development process from initial concept to final production with the team.
Support the product design execution, research and specification for woven bottoms, denim, RW shirts & Outerwear within classification or brand as defined.
Contribute to market and product research, style specification and materials selection in line with product brief and brand category as directed by team leads and merchandising leads. 
Provide market and trend research relative to area of expertise in design including functionality, materials, trim and animation.
Support product definition work and sharing of product attributes to cross functional partners. 
Support design teamwork in templates and maintain accurate digital folders of design boards. 
Sketch assigned styles with accurate and accessible digital files and folders

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Extensively research tear sheets, mood images, vintage garments, prints, colors, and silhouettes each season and organize design ideas effectively
Have an understanding of the RL aesthetic with a strong eye for detail and high quality execution
Have the skills/ability to take thorough design research and implement into new design ideas/sketches
Prepare and create inspiring seasonal design boards with team for design presentations and meetings
Sketch detailed flats and work in Photoshop, must be able to capture all design details, proportion, and the movement of the garment
CAD/render sketches with patterns, prints, and color in Photoshop
Make design mock-ups and treatments during the design cycle to support design ideas and presentations 
Create, execute, and complete all design handoffs/Tech Packs and responsible for owning and making sure Tech Packs from design’s end is complete and always updated as changes occur
Update sketches and CADs as changes occur in the line, communicate to CFT partners, and update design board accordingly 
Own/follow-up on the weekly merch team add/drop memo and ensure design’s end is updated
Assist in reviewing/approving incoming production samples, strike-offs, dips, and design submits
Maintain thorough knowledge of the entire line and responsible for tracking/updating changes
Attend all fittings and partner with PD/Technical team on all sketch and BOM updates and learn how to fit the garment properly with team
Serve as a liaison across all CFT partners to ensure information flow is accurate through the entire design development process
Must be able to work independently, multi-task, prioritize projects, have the ability to troubleshoot, and think creatively to find solutions
Organize electronic and physical design binder, samples, bins, and materials
Support day to day of all design functions and work effectively and efficiently within the team
Maintain and update all seasonal digital files and folders & internal library storage of raw material submissions.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design preferred
Technical skill requirements: Must be Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
Must be proficient in hand sketching and Illustration
Heavy Draping and 3D experience a must
PLM and Adobe XD experience a plus
High taste level and creative ability
Works with sense of urgency and ability to complete tasks with speed, ease, and accuracy
Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Strong attention to detail and understanding of garment construction
Team player with strong interpersonal skills
Excellent communication and follow-up skills: verbal and handwritten
