Position Overview

Ralph Lauren’s – India Technology group is focused on building & leveraging high-quality technology solutions to enhance business & digitization opportunities across channels and geographies

The Analytics Cloud Architect reports to the Director, Analytics Technology Architecture and will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of AWS cloud application for Analytics at Ralph Lauren.  This role will gather requirements from the Analytics Team and Business Stakeholders and translate into cloud solutions, optimizing performance and cost.  This role will work closely with the Analytics application development and support team, as well as the Global IT infrastructure team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, and architect cloud-based solutions within the AWS environment considering integration with data sources on-premise, in other AWS & Azure private clouds, and with SaaS applications. 
  • Design solutions using AWS services for data pipelines, ML Ops, data visualization, ETL/ETL, database, storage, data virtualization, etc. 
  • Partner with Analytics Team data engineers and analysts to understand business and technical requirements and design application solutions to deliver optimal solutions based on performance, functionality, and cost. 
  • Partner with the Infrastructure Cloud Architect to understand, optimize, and evolve the network and infrastructure designs.
  • Implement and Optimize the AWS application components.
  • Automate application deployment, maintenance and monitoring. 
  • Responsible for the high availability and disaster recovery plans of the Analytics environment. 
  • Develop technology roadmap for the relevant application services
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the Production Support Teams as needed

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • A Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, data management, information systems, information science or a related quantitative field is required.
  • AWS Certified Solution Architect Professional is preferred
  • Strong experience in cloud fundamentals including network and hybrid cloud design and cloud management practices
  • Multiple years of work experience in big data and analytics cloud-based environments.  
  • Deep Retail Industry knowledge or previous experience working in the business would be a plus.
  • Strong technical expertise in AWS big data and analytics related technologies including AWS Redshift, EMR, Athena, Aurora, Airflow and Step.  
  • Strong experience using Python and/or R in an enterprise big data environment
  • Strong experience in working with large, heterogeneous datasets in building and optimizing data pipelines, pipeline architectures and integrated datasets using ETL/ELT, data replication/CDC, streaming, and data virtualization.
  • Experience working with popular data discovery, analytics and BI software tools like MicroStrategy, Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI and others for semantic-layer-based data discovery.
  • Strong experience in working with data science teams in refining and optimizing data science and machine learning models and algorithms.
  • Basic experience in working with data governance, data quality, and data security teams and specifically and privacy and security officers in moving data pipelines into production with appropriate data quality, governance and security standards and certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple deployment environments including cloud, on-premises and hybrid, multiple operating systems and through containerization techniques such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Elastic Container Service and others.
  • Experienced in agile methodologies and capable of applying DevOps and increasingly DataOps principles to data pipelines to improve the communication, integration, reuse and automation of data flows between data managers and consumers across an organization
  • Strong experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environment.
  • Required to be highly creative and collaborative. An ideal candidate would be expected to collaborate with both the business and IT teams to define the business problem, refine the requirements, and design and develop data deliverables accordingly. The successful candidate will also be required to have regular discussions with data consumers on optimally refining the data pipelines developed in nonproduction environments and deploying them in production.
