Position Overview

As the Associate Manager, you support the General Manager in the creation of strategic plans, managing the execution of plans to ensure a profitable business. Associate Managers are key decision makers in the absence of the General Manager, in addition to owning their duty of responsibility. Success is achieved through operational excellence, optimizing talent and new ways of selling, while ensuring the highest level of brand integrity standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • • Assist the General Manager in daily operations and management of the store.
  • • Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth, enforcing sales targets, forecasting sales projections, and monitoring performance.
  • • Monitor and optimize key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales, including conversion rates, average transaction value (AVT), and units per transaction (UPT).
  • • Train Sales Associates on effective selling techniques, product knowledge, and upselling strategies to maximize sales opportunities.
  • • Foster a sales driven culture within the store by setting high standards, providing ongoing training and coaching, while celebrating successes.
  • • Handle customer concerns, and complaints in a professional manner.
  • • Collaborate with the management team to achieve sales targets and store objectives.
  • • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including safety regulations.
  • • Assist with recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of new team members.
  • • Contribute to creating a positive work environment and motivate staff to achieve goals.
  • • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff members and General Manager.
  • • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve sales targets.
  • • Excellent customer service skills and a passion for providing an exceptional shopping experience.
  • • Collaborate with GM and management team to develop customized career development paths and successions plan for employees, supporting long-term talent growth and retention strategies.
  • • Provide personalized coaching and mentorship to employees, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • • Collaborate with General Manager on staff scheduling and manage labor costs to optimize staffing levels during peak hours and seasons.
  • • Lead by example by actively engaging with customers on the sales floor, demonstrating exceptional customer service, and driving sales through personal interactions.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • College Degree or equivalent a plus
  • Retail Management or similar industry experience in a complex, high-volume or high-profile specialty environment preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and store personnel
  • Ability to maneuver around the sales floor, stock/dressing room, cashwrap and office; work around/with chemicals, lift/climb up to 30 lbs. and climb moderately
  • Ability to operate the register, stand, move and walk for multiple hours
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, which will require day, evening, weekends and may include overnight shifts and travel (as required)
  • Proven track record of success, including a demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, management and co-workers.
