Position Overview
The Infrastructure Engineer, Mac will be responsible for managing the architecture, administration, configuration, and testing of the JAMF Pro Enterprise environment. This role involves developing and enhancing best practices for deploying Apple technology, providing technical expertise to other IT groups, and partnering with the Service Desk to proactively mitigate issues. The engineer will design and maintain a user-friendly software deployment process, serve as the final point of internal support for escalations, and document all aspects of architecture and processes. Additionally, the role includes training EUC technicians on new Apple/JAMF technologies, collaborating with the Security team to ensure protocols are in place, and providing status and remediation reports to upper management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Architecture and Administration: Manage the architecture, administration, configuration, and testing of the JAMF Pro Enterprise environment.
Process Improvement: Develop and enhance best practices and standards for deploying Apple technology.
Technical Expertise: Provide MAC/JAMF technical expertise to other IT groups as needed.
Proactive Issue Mitigation: Partner with the Service Desk to identify trends in incidents and proactively mitigate issues before they arise at the end-user station.
Software Deployment: Design and maintain a user-friendly software deployment process with minimal end-user interaction.
Escalation Support: Serve as the final point of internal support for all escalations regarding MAC/JAMF technologies and act as a liaison to vendors.
Lite Touch Deployment: Architect and maintain an Apple “Lite Touch” MacOS deployment for tech-less support.
Documentation: Document all aspects of architecture and processes using company standard procedures.
Training: Work with EUC technicians to train them on new Apple/JAMF technologies being introduced to the environment.
Security Alignment: Collaborate with the Security team to ensure all security protocols are in place in the Mac environment.
Reporting: Provide status and remediation reports to upper management on all Mac-related deployments to ensure quality control.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Minimum 5 years' experience supporting MACs with Jamf in an enterprise environment.
5 years of JAMF Pro exposure.
JAMF Certified Admin Certification or equivalent.
Experience with macOS in an AD Environment.
Experience deploying and troubleshooting Office 365 on Macs & PCs.
Strong customer service mentality and multitasking ability.
Apple Certifications such as JAMF Certified Expert Certification or equivalent.
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially packaging and troubleshooting in a JAMF environment.
Knowledge of ServiceNow (SNOW) ITSM and the asset management model.
Experience deploying Apple OS.
Strong documentation skills to clearly show steps and configurations.
Strong communication skills, able to articulately communicate with all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of PKI, focusing on certificate distribution.
