The Next Generation Transformation (NGT) ERP+ Program will deliver new operating technology solutions and business processes. The As-Is core operating systems of the company (SAP ECC, Island Pacific and Microsoft D365) will be replaced by a core reliance on SAP S/4 Hana and provide a common, global solution. This will enable the Ralph Lauren team to continue delivering competitive advantages in our next great chapter and beyond. The NGT ERP+ program team, comprised of RL business and IT subject matter experts and third-party partners, is responsible for:
- Creating the transformation plan
- Defining how the company will operate going forward
- Planning the implementation of the new systems leading to a common way of working globally
- Designing, building, configuring, testing and deploying the new systems
- Acting as expert key users and subject matter experts within the RL community after deployment
The result will be a new set of technology and business process solutions impacting nearly every area of the Ralph Lauren business.
Position Overview
The Lead, International Trade Business Process Lead will join the Next Generation Transformation (NGT) ERP+ program team as part of the Business Process Stream. The team will work closely together to achieve a set of the common objectives as set forth in the target operating model and support the design, build, configurate, test and deploy phases of the program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Be a leader in the design and implementation of the to-be target operating model for international trade processes leveraging SAP S/4 Hana and edge applications
- Represent international trade compliance and operations aspects of program globally and work across regions to ensure requirements are accounted for, bring in regional experts when necessary
- Champion adoption of industry best practices & SAP’s pre-configured industry standards.
- Actively participate in the global design phase of project, developing global processes which can be adopted globally, with the ability to operate regionally
- Maximize leverage of core SAP functionality, including shifting or otherwise modernizing processes which are manual or supported by edge applications where possible and optimizing automated trade compliance processes in core SAP and where not feasible, then within edge applications
- Drills into key business capabilities to identify key outcomes, processes and “must-haves” and then challenges self and others to achieve the most effective and efficient business processes leading to transformation
- Creates clear pictures of the AS-IS, documenting the data flows, dependencies and integration points for the current ERP and Edge systems by region
- Identify gaps in any of the respective process or technical areas in the TO-BE solution so that mitigation can be created (possibly at a later stage) to remedy and implement process improvements, corrective action and minimize risk;
- Document TO-BE process maps and work flow documents, standard operating procedures and best practices, including identifying roles and responsibilities of cross-functional stakeholders and users.
- Ensure that the ownership (business and IT) is clear across the edge systems and that their responsibility as part of the cutover is clear. This includes identifying the need for any interim, transition or migration activity, which will be quantified and factored into the project plan.
- Enthusiastically embrace change & act as a transformation champion across respective area
- Prepare the various teams as much as possible for the upcoming mobilization. Use the engagement to educate, but also to listen and absorb and represent back the findings of the teams.
- Create an approach to testing that will enable an agile approach to developing and releasing new capabilities that encompasses the edge systems to create a common method across the RL systems in scope
- Assist in identifying training needs to facilitate knowledge required by the teams.
- Builds effective relationships and engages in healthy conflict to influence change
- Coordinate cross-functional partnerships among the Tax, FP&A, Trade Compliance, Legal Transport teams to ensure the analysis, adoption and utilization of the appropriate customs valuation methodology, inter-company transfer pricing in all RL-regional markets.
- Communicates and summarizes with brevity, including ability to build / update executive summaries
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Minimum 8+ years of experience with progressive responsibilities including both organizational leadership roles and executing small and large-scale strategic initiatives
- Possesses expertise within a global, multi-regional fashion or consumer goods environment supporting product classification, global trade regulations, customs requirements, free trade agreements, import/export requirements and international shipping procedures and documentation.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Must be adept at translating complex concepts into actionable plans.
- Possess ability to translate policy & strategic directions into process, procedures and instructions
- Has the ability to confidently engage with and influence senior executives
- The ideal candidate is pragmatic, a problem solver, thrives under pressure, and excels at multitasking. Has the ability to make decisive and timely decisions while acting with authority.
- Possesses a strong strategic vision but is also comfortable taking a hands-on approach to achieve results.
- Experience with supporting audits conducted by local Customs Authorities and other relevant cross-border regulatory agencies.
- Experience with leading systems supporting international trade including: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Global Trade Management (GTM), Customs Management (CMS), Trade Compliance, Export Documentation and Transport Management (TMS)
